Workshop Purpose

  • Challenge personal and systemic assumptions about disability.

  • Examine the impact of these assumptions

  • Identify first step toward becoming anti-ableist.

Topics We’ll Explore

This session will include discussions related to:

  • Disability and disability justice

  • Accessibility

  • Ableism and audism

  • Inclusion, exclusion, intersectionality and bias

  • Disability joy and community

How We’ll Learn Together

We’ll use a range of facilitation tools to support different learning styles and foster engagement:

  • Presentation-style facilitation

  • Movie clips (captioned) and audio clips with transcripts

  • Self-reflection exercises

  • Group discussions and breakouts

  • Storytelling through facilitation

  • Interactive web-based collaboration via Mentimeter (access code provided during the session; can be accessed via smartphone, tablet, or computer)

    Accessibility and Comfort

  • There will be 1 scheduled break, and you're welcome to care for your needs at any time during our time together.

  • You may be invited to move around the space (participation is optional).

We’re committed to creating a space where everyone can engage meaningfully. If any of these tools or approaches present barriers, we’d love to work with you to find alternatives that feel more accessible. Please connect with Elisabeth at elisabeth@inclusive-experiences.ca—we're happy to adapt the session in ways that support your participation.
